Only Hate Returned

Only Hate Returned

(Female Version)

We had a love-hate relationship.
In smoke and flames it burned.
I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.

As gentle embers glowing hot
The gentle passion burned.
Oh my, how that changed
Flames of rage, that passion turned.

I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.

She never liked me so I
Blamed it on his mother.
But the truth is he
Had eyes for another.

I tried so, so hard to
Make our marriage work.
He told lies to our friends
To make me out to be the jerk.

I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.

Believe him if you want to.
That don’t make it so.
I don’t care what you think.
What matters is what I know.

We had a love-hate relationship.
In smoke and flames it burned.
I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.

I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.

I don’t care what you think.
That don’t make it so.
All that matters to me
Is what I know.

All that matters to me
Is what I know.
I gave him all my love
But only hate returned.
